Chechnya’s leader gives approval for 46-year-old police chief to wed 17-year-old girl in forced marriage

A strongman ally of Vladimir Putin has given permission for a police chief to take a 17-year girl as his second wife in a forced marriage. The Chechnya police chief, Nazhud Guchigov, 46, has vowed to kidnap the girl and has threatened "unpleasant consequences" if the parents do not consent to the marriage, reports the Times of London. The marriage, set to take place on Saturday, has been approved by Chechnya's leader, Ramzan Kadyrov.
