Bygone Vermont: 19th century serial killer hid in Burlington

A notorious 19th century serial killer, who admitted to killing 27 and may have killed 200 people, came to Burlington while trying to escape investigators. One-time UVM medical student Herman Webster Mudgett (H.H. Holmes) became this country’s first notorious serial killer.
