Legislation filed in Little Rock aims to do away with what parental equality advocates call "gender discrimination" when it comes to custody battles surrounding children born outside of marriage. When a custody dispute evolves out of a divorce proceeding, Arkansas law says custody is to be awarded according to the best interest of the child without regard to the parent's gender.
